75th Anniversary of D-Day Landings in Normandy
We have received the following Notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs. While we have not yet received advice on the composition of any Official Party for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy at Juno Beach on 6 June 2019, anyone considering attending these activities in France should be aware that they must register online with Veterans Affairs Canada.

Juno Beach Centre Marks 75th Anniversary in 2019
The summer of 2019 will mark the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. More than 90,000 Canadians fought from the sands of Juno to the banks of the Seine liberating Normandy. Over 5500 Canadian soldiers did not make it home and remain buried in Normandy today. To honour their memory, the Juno Beach Centre has launched Canada’s Juno75 Commemorative Campaign to recognize those who made the ultimate sacrifice that summer.

National Conference a Big Success

Last week on the 28th and 29th of November the CMEA hosted a very successful two-day conference at the Army Ottawa Officers’ Mess. The theme of the conference was “Strong, Secure, Engaged – Canada’s New Defence Policy and the Engineers.” Day One comprised formal presentations and discussions that examined the impact of the 2017 Strong, Secure, Engaged Defence Policy (SSE). And Day Two was a business meeting of the CMEA.
