Two RCE officer-cadets, pictured at the right - OCdt Fraser Clark and OCdt Jacques Pecora, were among a small group of RMC Cadets who recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and made it to the very top. Here is their story.

Once again Reserve Engineers concentrated for intensive training during the Christmas – New Year break. This exercise has been conducted for some 30 years at Chilliwack, Wainwright, and Gagetown and formerly has been known as exercise Quarrel Jump.

The theme for this year’s mapper is, “We are moving,” which could have been the theme for many mappers in the past, but this time it is actually going to happen. Unlike previous moves it is clear that the building is going to be closed and the site re-developed.

As several of you probably know, numerous studies have shown that mentorship has a positive effect on personal and professional satisfaction and nurtures growth, development and performance at work.
On Monday, 11 November the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC-ICCA) of the Quebec Region celebrated the 21st anniversary of the Steel Awards for Excellence in Steel Construction, at one of the most historic venues in Canada, the prestigious Montreal 'The Windsor', offering a welcome cocktail, a gourmet 3-course dinner, in a packed hall. The evening was hosted by Stéphanie Levesque (animator, columnist, author, cabinetmaker).
For over 100 years, The War Amps have supported Canada's wounded soldiers. Starting in 1918, Lieutenant Colonel Sidney Lambert, The War Amps first President, himself an amputee after losing a leg during the First World War helped lay the groundwork for this new national association. His goal was to bind together First World War amputees returning home to an uncertain future, and advocate for both them and other seriously disabled veterans. He instilled the belief that, with courage and determination, amputees can succeed in life.
The Memorial Cross (more often referred to as the Silver Cross) was first authorized on 1 December 1919 as a memento of personal loss and sacrifice on the part of widows and mothers of Canadian sailors, aviators and soldiers who died for their country during the war.
