Feast day of St. Barbara celebrated in Valcartier
On December 4th, we celebrate the feast day of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of occupations related to lightning and fire. In the Canadian Forces, Saint Barbara traditionally protects artillerymen, firefighters and, by association, combat engineers and ammunition technicians due to their use of explosives.
LGen Christine Whitecross Assumes Command of NATO Defense College

Lieutenant-General Christine (Chris) Whitecross today assumed command of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Defense College in Rome, taking over from Major-General Janusz Bojarski of the Polish Air Force.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, issued the following statement today on the appointment of Lieutenant-General Christine (Chris) Whitecross as Commandant of the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy:

Izzy Doll Workshop – Encounters with Canada
During Remembrance Week 2016, the Izzy Doll Project had another great opportunity to introduce its work to some of Canada’s youth. Conducting a Workshop as part of the “Encounters with Canada” forum provides a great opportunity to educate our youth on the humanitarian work of the Canadian Forces – with emphasis on helping children around the world who may be living a life of misery and despair as a consequence of war or natural disaster.
