On Saturday 5 June 2019, LCol Mark Flint, CD took over command of The North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment from LCol J.R.V. Dufour in Bathurst, NB.  LCol Flint retired from the Regular Force in 2012 after an exciting career as a sapper officer in 1, 2 and 5 CERs with tours in the Balkans and Afghanistan.  The North Shore Regiment has a storied past and celebrated their role in the Normandy invasion the day following the Change of Command.  All events were virtual.

In August 2019, teams of professional artists, landscape architects, architects, and other urban design professionals were invited to provide their credentials and examples of prior work. In summer 2020, a jury composed of experts in the fields of arts and urban design and representatives from key stakeholder groups shortlisted five design teams to create a design for the Monument.

As part of the Faces to Graves project in the Netherlands, ‘Faces to Canadian War Graves Groesbeek’ LINK is working to publish a short story of each of the Canadian soldiers buried in Groesbeek or included on their Memorial Wall. The stories are being published online LINK as they are written.

Both Iraq and Kuwait achieved independence in the 20^th century. The relationship between the two countries, however, had not been smooth. Iraq had long felt that Kuwait was really a part of Iraq and that Kuwaiti oil rigs were illegally tapping into Iraqi oil fields. In the late 1980s, tensions grew and relations became much worse. On 2 August 1990, the situation came to a head when Iraqi forces invaded Kuwait and quickly took control of its much smaller neighbour.
