Canada’s Ambassador-designate to South Korea, Mark Fletcher, assisted in launching a special photo exhibit in United Nations Peace Memorial Hall in Busan, South Korea on 24 March 2022. The new display illustrates some of Canada’s participation in the Koren War.

The Organization of Military Museums of Canada Course (OMMC) will be held in Sackville, NB from 12 – 18 June 2022, COVID restrictions or outbreaks notwithstanding. The host museum is the Canadian Military Engineers Museum in Gagetown, headed by Sandra Johnson Penney.

Keeping in touch with our Sapper Korean War veterans has been made more difficult after the recent wind-down of the Korean Veterans Association. The CMEA has initiated an effort to improve the contact and communications among remaining Korean War veterans and within the CME Family. We also want to improve the CME Family awareness of the actions of the Royal Canadian Engineers during the Korean War and acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of our Korean War veterans.

The CDAI Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence at the Chateau Laurier provided an ideal opportunity on 10 March for TD Insurance Meloche Monnex to present the CMEA with a cheque for $62,725.00 as part of our affinity relationship financial support for 2021. Since it was started nine years ago, TD Insurance Meloche Monnex has provided over $300,000 to the CMEA to fund many of our programs.

Our work on cataloguing the location of permanent Bailey Bridges in Canada has been turned up one notch with the publication of an illustrated web feature Bailey Bridges in Canada. So far, we have located more than 100 Bailey bridges - some having been constructed as early as 1948. We estimate that there may be up to 300 permanent Bailey bridges still in use across the country.

The Save Juno Beach campaign is citizen-driven - run by friends and proud supporters of the Juno Beach Centre in Normandy. Any donations go directly to the Juno Beach Centre Association (JBCA). It is a Canadian non-profit charitable corporation that owns and operates the Juno Beach Centre in Normandy.
