The Theatre Activation Team (TAT) was in Ukraine in early August to ensure everything was ready for the arrival of the Task Force Ukraine members and for the start of Operation UNIFIER.

The TAT of approximately 90 personnel deployed to the International Peacekeeping and Security Centre (IPSC) located in Starychi, Ukraine. They took care of setting up housing, feeding, administration and logistical support that the Task Force requires as part of the operation.

Some of the 8000 hours spent constructing tactical infrastructure by the TAT between 5 August and 8 September in Starychi included:

  • 44 sea containers received, unloaded, and processed;
  • 102 aircraft pallets consisting of 560,500 pounds of equipment received;
  • 41 Canadian Armed Forces vehicles received;
  • 72 CAF computer systems installed;
  • 5 kilometers of fibre optic cable laid;
  • 2 secure Satellite Systems deployed;
  • 200 square meters of laminate laid;
  • 1500 meters of electrical wire and conduit run;
  • 1000 cubic meters of gravel laid;
  • 1000 bricks laid;
  • 1000 tiles laid;
  • 12800 square feet of plywood laid (400 sheets); and
