4 ESR Combat Divers with Allies in the Netherlands

From 06 June 17 to 23 June 17, Combat Divers from 4 Engineer Support Regiment (4 ESR) took part in a Military Engineer Diving Exercise 2017 in the Netherlands. Members conducted valuable dive training alongside NATO allies from Norway and the United Kingdom in order to hone their skills and improve interoperability with members of other dive teams. Training included underwater navigation, salvage diving, welding, bridge deconstruction, as well as river crossings and bottom profiling.

Prince Harry closes Invictus games, Toronto, 30 Sep 17

With the closing of the 2017 Invictus Games on 1 October, the Canadian Military Engineer participants deserve our congratulations for their participation and performances. Their individual results can be seen at the attached.

 

With the closing of these Games, it is difficult to summarize that spectacular event in words better than were delivered by Prince Harry: 

March 4, 1943

On this date in 1943, Captain George Burbidge of the 4th Field Squadron, attached to Combined Operations HQ in Malta, was lost with other members of his party while conducting a beach recce in Sicily. This was their second mission and they had been inserted from a Royal Navy submarine.  

New TAPV facility opened in Gagetown

On September 14, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Matt DeCourcey, attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a newly-constructed Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) facility at 5 Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown.

The facility meets LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver standards. Completed on time and on budget, this $26.1 million facility will house 61 TAPVs and provide 12 maintenance bays for vehicles and equipment, as well as classrooms for the combat and technical services branches on the base.

40TWENTY at 2 Combat Engineer Regiment - After Action Report

From 7-9 July, 2 Combat Engineer Regiment (2 CER) held a celebration named 40Twenty honouring 40 years since the Regiment has been stood up, and 20 years spent at the Neder Rijn Engineer Park (NREP) within CFB Petawawa. Over the course of the weekend, 2 CER hosted many alumni, engineer family members and other attendees to partake in many events celebrating the Regiment’s history and comradery.
