This group certificate is given to Chief Warrant Officer R. Michaud, CD (Retired), Sergeant B. Marcoux, CD (Retired), and Corporal H. Lambert, CD (Retired), in acknowledgement of their initiative, dedication, commitment, leadership, remarkable professionalism and extraordinary passion to The Quebec Retired Sappers Association since its creation in March 2005. They all greatly and admirably contributed to the promotion of the customs and merits of the Canadian Military Engineer Branch and the distribution of information about the Canadian Military Engineer Branch at large.

Nommé responsable pour la gestion de la cession des biens excédentaires de l’ancienne Base des Forces canadiennes Chiliwack, la Société immobilière du Canada limitée s’est démenée pour le respect de l’héritage militaire de la région. Leur oeuvre se traduit principalement par la réalisation du projet « Legacy Trail » de Garrison Crossing, en Colombie-Britannique, qui assurera une représentation adéquate de l’héritage de la région. La Société immobilière du Canada limitée a également fait preuve d’un dévouement et d’une initiative extraordinaire pour la restauration et la revitalisation du Parc commémoratif des sapeurs, du monument commémoratif aux sapeurs du Canada et du Commonwealth britannique qui ont donné leurs vies au service du pays.

Since it was assigned the responsibility to manage the disposal of the surplus properties of the former Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack, Canada Lands Company Limited has directed extraordinary effort to respecting the Military Heritage of the area. This work is exemplified in the construction of the “Legacy Trail” at Garrison Crossing BC that will ensure that the heritage of the area is accurately displayed. Canada Lands Company has also shown outstanding initiative and commitment to the restoration and revitalization of the “All Sappers Memorial Park”, the national memorial to the Sappers of Canada and the British Commonwealth who have given their lives in the Service of their Country.

Col St. John provided stalwart leadership, promoting throughout the Canadian Military Engineer Family, the restoration and revitalization of the “All Sappers Memorial Park”

MWO Jim Harris, MMM, CD (Ret’d)

Depuis son départ des Forces canadiennes en 1994, Jim Harris s’est consacré à la promotion de la camaraderie auprès de ses compagnons sapeurs à la retraite et a travaillé à la préservation du patrimoine du Génie militaire canadien. Il a particulièrement été persévérant en tant que membre exécutif des associations des Sapeurs à la retraite et des Apprentis sapeurs. Non seulement il a joué un rôle critique pour la tenue des réunions annuelles, mais il a également entretenu un vaste réseau national d’intercommunication entre les membres afin de maintenir ceux-ci informés. Il est le président et le fondateur de la Société d'histoire de la Base des Forces canadiennes Chilliwack, grâce à laquelle l’héritage de l’ancienne base peut être conservé. En plus de la mise sur pied d’un musée local, il a collaboré, en association avec la Société immobilière du Canada, à la réalisation du projet « Legacy Trail » de Garrison Crossing en Colombie-Britannique, projet qui consiste à présenter le plus fidèlement possible l’héritage de la région. Il a aussi été le conseiller principal de la Société immobilière du Canada limitée lors d’importants travaux entrepris pour la restauration du Parc commémoratif des sapeurs.

MWO Jim Harris, MMM, CD (Ret’d)

Since retiring from the Canadian Forces in 1994, Jim Harris has devoted his boundless energy to promoting camaraderie among his fellow retired sappers and working to preserve Canada’s Military Engineering heritage. He has been particularly tireless as a member of the Executive of both the Retired Sappers and the Sapper Apprentices Associations. Not only has he been a key individual in the conduct of their regular Annual Reunions, he has maintained an extensive national communications network that has kept these members informed. He is the founder and president of the Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack Historical Society where the legacy of the former base is kept alive. In addition to the creation of a local museum, he has worked in partnership with Canada Lands to implement the “Legacy Trail Project” at Garrison Crossing BC, to ensure that the heritage of the area is accurately displayed. He has also been an invaluable consultant to Canada Lands in their extensive restoration of the “All Sappers Memorial Park.”

Col J.K. Tattersall, CD

Au cours d’une période de quatre années à titre de J3 Opérations - Génie, de conseiller de la Branche du GMC et de commandant du Groupe du génie – Soutien opérationnel, le soutien et le leadership du Col Tattersall dans la Branche du GMC a été exemplaire. À titre de voix du GMC pour la transformation des FC, sa gérance de tous les métiers du GMC a permis au Génie d’être efficacement harmonisé à l’intérieur des nouveaux commandements opérationnels, ce qui a servi de modèle pour d’autres fonctions de soutien. À titre de conseiller de la Branche, il a établi et s’est fait l’avocat d’un juste équilibre entre les ingénieurs professionnels et la profession des armes tout en trouvant l’équilibre entre les compétences techniques et tactiques pour tous les métiers du génie. Ses efforts dans le développement d’un environnement pangouvernemental interarmées et combiné a apporté énormément de crédit au GMC, aux Forces canadiennes et au Canada.

Over a period of four years as J3 Engineer Operations, CME Branch Advisor and Commander OS Engineer Group, Col Tattersall’s support and leadership in the CME Branch has been exemplary. As the CME’s voice for CF Transformation, his stewardship of all CME trades enabled Engineers to be effectively harmonized within the new operational commands which served as a model for other support functions. As Branch Advisor he established and advocated for the right balance between Professional Engineer and the Profession of Arms, while at the same time finding the balance between technical and tactical competencies for all engineer trades. His efforts in development of a Joint, Combined, Whole of Government environment has brought great credit to the CME, to the Canadian Forces and to Canada.
