After more than 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, MWO D.T Best, CD, will retire on 29 April 2026.

After more than 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Engineers, Master Warrant Officer David T. Best, CD, will retire on 29 April 2026.
MWO Best was born in Bracebridge, Ontario, and enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in February 1996 as an Artillery Air Defender.
Throughout his career, MWO Best has served in key leadership and supervisory positions across Canada, most recently as the Detachment Sergeant Major for Real Property Operations Unit (Ontario), Detachment Trenton. His previous assignments include 1 Engineer Support Unit (Kingston), Transition Centre Kingston, RPOU (Ontario) Detachment North Bay, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment (Edmonton), the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (Gagetown), and Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg. He will retire from RP Ops Det Trenton.
Operationally, MWO Best deployed on Operation TASK FORCE AFGHANISTAN (2009–2010) and Operation ALERT (2004–2005). His honours and awards include the General Campaign Star – South-West Asia (GCS-SWA), the Canadian Forces Decoration with one clasp and the Special Service Medal with ALERT Bar.
MWO Best has been married for 28 wonderful years to his wife, Pam. They have two children, Ivy and Tavania. Following his retirement, he looks forward to working at 8 Wing Trenton as a Public Servant, where he will continue to support the Canadian Armed Forces.
