The summer of 2019 will mark the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. More than 90,000 Canadians fought from the sands of Juno to the banks of the Seine liberating Normandy. Over 5500 Canadian soldiers did not make it home and remain buried in Normandy today. Last week on the 28th and 29th of November the CMEA hosted a very successful two-day conference at the Army Ottawa Officers’ Mess. The theme of the conference was “Strong, Secure, Engaged – Canada’s New Defence Policy and the Engineers.” Day One comprised formal presentations and discussions that examined the impact of the 2017 Strong, Secure, Engaged Defence Policy (SSE).
