IE FOCUS 21 October 2014 - Well Done Awards

The Health and Safety Committee for the joint DGIEES/DCC NCR Project Management Office at 180 Kent Street Ottawa are the recipients of DND’s prestigious “Well Done Award” for excellence in workplace Health and Safety.

This award is to recognize an individual (or group) who has significantly contributed to a safety program over and above the call of duty and/or who has prevented a serious accident that could have resulted in injury/fatality and/or damage/loss. This award has been created not only to commend the individual (group) but also to demonstrate DND's appreciation of accident prevention efforts in the General Safety field. The publicizing of this award is important to promote safety awareness as well as further motivate the workforce to participate in the General Safety Program. This award will be publicized nationally in DND’s Safety Digest.

The award was presented to the Committee by DND’s D Safe G, Renée Roussel, at the start of our monthly H&S Committee meeting, 9 September 2014. Carrie Fortier, DGIEES, and Shawn Bindon, DCC Business Unit Manager, also spoke of the many innovative recommendations submitted by the Committee and its perseverance to help keep Health and Safety as Priority One.

This H&S Committee is unique in its joint DND/DCC make-up and points to the innovations in H&S, among other areas, that are possible through collaboration between organizations. The joint PMO operations include Project Management, Design Management, Contract Management and technical inspections including Fire Marshall Inspections at DND properties across Canada.
