We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Paul Guilbault, CD (Retd), peacefully on 26 December 2025, in Edmonton AB, at age 84 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Chicoutimi QC, Paul joined the Canadian Forces in 1960 and graduated from the Royal Military College Kingston in 1965 in Civil Engineering. An early posting of his career with the Canadian Military Engineers was with the Construction Engineering staff of I Air Division in Europe followed by his appointment as the Base Construction Engineering Officer in Valcartier QC (1972-79). Paul was then posted to National Defence Headquarters, where he led the Military Engineering Postings and Careers section for non-commissioned members of the Canadian Military Engineers. He was subsequently a member of the Directorate of Construction Engineering Requirements.
In retirement, Paul was the President of the Alberta Genealogy Association, where he helped countless individuals trace their ancestral roots. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus.
Paul’s Funeral Service was on 15 January 2026 at St. Thomas D’Aquin Catholic Church {8410 89 Street NW Edmonton}. Online Condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
