After more than 10 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, Sgt Marc-Olivier Malenfant will retire on 01 June 2023. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to Sgt W.G. Sutherland at William.Sutherland@forces.gc.ca.
After more than ten years of loyal and dedicated service, Sgt Marc-Olivier Malenfant will retire from the CAF on 01 June 23.
Sgt Malenfant joined the Canadian Armed Forces in February 2013. After completing BMQ and PH DP1, he was posted to CFB Bagotville, where he would spend the next four years and complete DP2 trade training. As a PH Tech, Sgt Malenfant deployed from CFB Bagotville to Kuwait to support OP IMPACT from August 2016 until February 2017. He assisted with security and maintenance for OP CADENCE during the G7 Summit in 2018. Also during this posting, he was part of the Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) team.
In July 2018, Sgt Malenfant was posted to 4 ESR and participated in Ex NIHILO SAPPERin Summerside, PE, that fall. During the exercise, he worked on a Habitat for Humanity project
installing plumbing for the local Boys’ and Girls’ Club. Sgt Malenfant was posted to CFSME as an instructor in May 2019 and worked his way to the position of PH Cell Sect Comd by June 2022 and acted as Production Flight WO in February 2023.
On retirement, Sgt Malenfant will move home to Riviere-du-Loup and continue working in the plumbing and heating trade.
