    We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Percy Eldon “Hank” Clements (Ret’d) at the Queen Elizabeth II Healthcare Complex in Halifax NS on 4 January 2010 at the age of 92.

    Hank was born in Port Morien NS and lived there most his life. He served for a brief time in the Merchant Marine as a fireman aboard the SS Corabelle in 1939 sailing between Halifax and Newfoundland. In 1942 he enlisted in the Canadian Army and served as a Sapper in the Royal Canadian Engineers in England and the Virgin Islands. He was discharged in 1945 and worked both in construction and, being a fisherman by trade, fished out of Port Morien for over 60 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3 in Glace Bay NS.

    In honouring Hank’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place on 8 January at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien, with interment in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery in Black Brook NS.
