NEW - CMEA will award two bursaries each for the three groupings: Junior Ranks, Senior NCOs/WOs, and Officers. (Total of 6x bursaries of $1,000).

SLESSE Range Accident - Commemorative Ceremony
In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the SLESSE range accident, CFSME will conduct a simple, dignified ceremony at 1100 hrs on 20 June 2008 in the Mitchell Building (J-10) at CFB Gagetown.
This small ceremony at CFSME, to remember the six students killed during a demolition range practice in Chilliwack, BC, will be presided over by the CME Branch Advisor, Col J.K. Tattersall. Through the dedication of a new SLESSE memorial at a prominent location within School lines, we will remember the fallen students, re-emphasize our professional responsibility to take care of our soldiers and students, and instill this sense of responsibility to the new generation of Sappers.
Dress is CADPAT and the entire ceremony should take no longer than 30 minutes; there is no post-ceremony reception.

CME CWO Appointment
ADM(IE), Ms Cynthia Binnington, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chief Warrant Officer JLLD Gratton, CD as the Canadian Military Engineer Branch Chief Warrant Officer effective 31 May 2007. Chief Warrant Officer Gratton is currently employed as the Career Manager for the seven Military Occupations of the Construction Engineers.
Chief Warrant Officer Gratton will be replacing Chief Warrant Officer JHRP Ste-Marie, MMM, CD who will be posted to Casteau, Belgium as CWO National Military Representative Europe.
DND has established a helpline to capture the names and provide assistance to those members of 1 CER who served in Kuwait. If you are one of these members, please call 1-800-883-6094 and ask for the 1 CER/Kuwait desk. The helpline will be operational from June to December 2007.
