We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Ken Allen (Retd) peacefully at his residence in London, ON, on 22 March 2012 in his 80th year. Ken served with the 7th Field Company of the Royal Canadian Engineers in London from 1954 to 1965. Attaining the rank of Sergeant in this militia company, he was subsequently employed as a full-time civilian employee with the Construction Engineers of CFB London. Ken made a unique contribution to London and Canadian military history when he single-handedly created and curated the Royal Canadian Engineers Museum or 15 years within the RCR Museum in Woolsey Barracks in London. The museum he created is a reflection of the lives and heritage of London's Engineers.
Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will take place on Wednesday, 28 March 2012 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 150-633 Colborne Street, London ON N6B 2V3, would be appreciated.
We regret to advise of the unexpected death of Corporal Jonathan (John) Allison, 29 years old, of 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, Edmonton on 28 April 2012. John joined the Canadian Forces in 2005 and was posted to his first unit, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in 2006 after completing his Basic Combat Engineer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering.
A public Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, 6 May 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm; with a Funeral Service on Monday, 7 May 2012 at 11:00 am. Visitation and Service will occur at Fellowship Baptist Church (1078 Klondike Rd., Kanata, ON., 613-591-3246). Interment at Auld Kirk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jonathan's memory to Harvest House Ministries ( www.harvesthouse.org/) or New Tribes Mission of Canada ( canada.ntm.org/give/ ).
We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Brian Gordon Charron (Retd) on 14 April 2012. Born in Ottawa in 1949, Brian enlisted in the Canadian Forces in September 1969. He started his military career as an Aero Engine Technician but remustered to the Mapper community in 1973. Brian spent most of his career with the Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa and his last tour was with HQ SFOR Sarajevo (Aug 97 - Feb 98). He retired from the Canadian Forces in 1998 but remained with Mapping and Charting Establishment with the Public Service as a mapper draftsman.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 21 April 2012 at 11:00 hours at Byer's Funeral Home, 2990 Church St., South Mountain, ON (613-989-3836). By family request donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Ottawa Heart Institute.
We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Anne Crevier, 19, a Combat Engineer with 5 Regiment du Genie de Canada, Valcartier, on the base on Tuesday 10 January 2012. Anne was born in Quebec City and enrolled in the Canadian Forces in April 2010. Upon completion of her basic Sapper training, Anne was posted to 5 RGC in May 2011.
A commemorative ceremony for Spr Anne Crevier will be held at Sherbrooke, QC Friday 20 January and Saturday 21 January 2012. Viewing will be Friday 20 Jan from 1900 to 2100hrs and Saturday 21 Jan from 1300 to 1530hrs. After, there will be a small military funeral service from 1530 to 1600hrs and this will be followed by a light lunch from 1600 to 1700hrs. All these events will take place at the funeral home, Centre funéraire Dupuis, 6207, ch de St-Élie, Sherbrooke, Qc, J0B 2S0, 819-565-4989.
At the family's request there will be a private funeral service, for family, friends and Anne's colleagues.
We regret to advise of the death of Maj John George Densmore (Retd) in Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on 15 April 2012. Born in Maitland, NS, in 1921, he graduated with Honours RMC (class of 1942), Kings-Dalhousie University, Harvard University, and M.I.T. A WW II veteran, John served with the Royal Canadian Engineers overseas and retired with rank of Major.

A service to celebrate John's life will be held on Friday 20 April at 11:00 a.m. in Emmanuel Anglican Church, 287 Harrington Street, Arnprior. Interment in Nova Scotia at a later date. We regret to advise that Richard Edwards passed away on 5 January 2012 in Medicine Hat, AB, at the age of 75 years. Dick started his military career with the 2nd Intake of Royal Canadian Engineers Sapper Apprentices from 1953 to 1955 and spent most of his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator. For the early part of his career he was posted to 1 Field Squadron in Petawawa and then went overseas to Germany with the squadron and returned to Petawawa after this tour. The mid-60s saw him with 3 Field Squadron in Chilliwack and then Dick returned to Germany 1974-78.
A Private Family Time of Remembrance will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts in Richard's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102-1865 Dunmore Road S.E. Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A-1Z8.
We regret to advise that Major William (Bill) Eggleston, CD (Retd), passed away on 4 March 2012 at the Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Bill grew up on a farm in the Peace River region near Dawson Creek, BC and joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1961 as a Sapper in the trade of Stone Mason. Rising quickly through the ranks, he was promoted to MWO Construction and Maintenance Technician before being commissioned and promoted to Captain in 1974 and, subsequently, to Major in 1983. From trades training in Chilliwack, postings took him to Picton, ON, Moose Jaw, Summerside (twice), Yorkton where he was SCEO, Chilliwack twice more including a tour at CFSME, Goose Bay, Comox as BCEO, Air Command Headquarters in Winnipeg, and finally Esquimalt as Requirements Officer (1991-1996). He retired in 1996 after 35 years of service, and continued to serve the CF as the Base Capital Construction Coordinator until his retirement in 2008.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, 8 March between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for 2:00 pm an Friday, 9 March. Both events will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services at 4725 Falaise Drive in Saanich near the Broadmead Plaza.
We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Donald Graham "Dusty" Gull on 15 April 2012 at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto while on Medical Leave. Age 49, Dusty was a Plumbing and Heating Technician with more than 20 years of service at locations that included North Bay, Halifax and Dundurn.
Friends and family will be received at the J.S. We regret to advise of the death of Captain Donat Lamarre (Retd) on 18 March 2012 at the age of 87. Donat was born in Chicoutimi and joined the Chaudière Regiment in 1945. He soon remustered to the Topographical Surveyor trade with the Royal Canadian Engineers where he served the remainder of his military career.
Donat's career as a Military Engineer Surveyor started in the Army Survey Establishment in Ottawa. As a ‘field man’ he worked with Army Survey on mapping projects such as Seven Islands QC, Yorkton SK and Toronto. A highlight of his career was an Exchange Position with 42 Survey Engineer Regiment.in England with the Royal Engineers (1973-1975). He worked as a Photogrammetrist for a few years before being commissioned. After commissioning Donat served as the Administration Officer for Mapping and Charting Establishment before being posted to the Royal Military College as a Survey Instructor. Upon his retirement from the CF in 1979 he joined CIDA, where he enjoyed a second career.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Friday, 23 March from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Parish, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing may make a donation to a charity of choice.
We regret to advise of the unexpected death of Officer Cadet Mathieu Robert LeClair at Kingston, ON on Tuesday, 28 February 2012. Born in 1991 in Saint John, NB, Mathieu was a third year Canadian Military Engineer cadet at the Royal Military College of Canada.
A 2009 graduate from Simonds High School, Mathieu he was an Air Cadet with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets Simonds Squadron #527 rising to the position of Warrant Officer II, Band Leader. He had been selected for an International Cadet Exchange Program where he had travelled to Washington DC and to Texas. In his High School senior year, he traveled with his classmates on an educational trip to Greece and Italy. He played on both the Junior Varsity and the Varsity Basketball teams and was a member of the School Band

We regret to advise of the unexpected death of Warrant Officer Don Martin in hospital in Ottawa on 28 February 2012, at the age of 69 years. Don was a Mapper who, in addition to his military service, served his Country and the Public for 50 years.
Born Montreal, Don spent three years with the Army Cadets before enlisting as an Apprentice with the Royal Canadian Artillery in September 1959. On graduation from the Apprentice Program in 1961 he was posted to 2 RCHA in Winnipeg as an Artillery Surveyor. As a Corporal , Don remustered to the Topographic Surveyor trade and joined the Canadian Military Engineers in January 1969. Promoted to Warrant Officer in 1974, over his career he developed specialties in gravity, satellite and gyro survey and contributed his expertise at the School of Military Mapping. He retired at the rank of Warrant Officer in February 1981 and then served a second surveyor career with the National Capital Commission in Ottawa.
The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Friday, 9 March 2012 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, 10 March at 11:00 am at Resurrection of Our Lord Church 1940 Saunderson Drive. In lieu of flowers in memoriam donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Red Cross would be appreciated.
We regret to advise that Howard William McFarlane died on 23 March 2012 at Thomas Hall in Fredericton. Born in St John, NB, in 1921, He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with the class of 43 and went to war as a lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Engineers. Howard returned to UNB in 1946 where he had a distinguished career as a civil engineer and taught for the next 35 years. He was also active as a consultant and was a founding member of Associated Designers and Inspectors.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., on Tuesday, 27 March 2012 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. The funeral service will be at St. Paul’s United Church on 28 March at 2:00 pm.

We regret to advise that Ronald Arthur Miller passed away in Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday 22 February 2012 in his 78th year. Ron was a Royal Canadian Engineer veteran (1951-1965) and retired CGE Arnprior.

We regret to advise of the sudden death of John (Jack) O’Neil in his 71st year at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on 16 March 2012.
Originally from ‘The Miramichi,’ John started his military career as an Infantryman with the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment of Canada). In the early 1960s he served in 2nd Battalion RHC in Camp Gagetown and Germany, and deployed Cyprus in 1966. After this he was posted to the Airborne Regiment with the Princes Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry when it was formed in Edmonton and subsequently remustered to the Canadian Military Engineers. He served the remainder of his career in the Construction Trades.
John was active in The Royal Canadian Legion and the Black Watch Association. He was a regular at Atlantic Branch gatherings every September, and he was the co-ordinator for the Upper Canada Branch BBQs held every June in the Orleans Legion.

We regret to advise of the death of Joe Reichert on 16 March 2012 in the presence of his family at home.
Joe was born in 1934 in Macklin, SK and was home-schooled by his mother. He finished his education at Castor, SK and Red Deer, AB and then attended the University of Alberta, through ROTP. He was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Engineers and, early in his career, he was posted to England on the British Army’s Long Survey program. Joe was posted to the Army Survey Establishment upon completion of this training and remained with ASE for five years. Joe was an accomplished Arctic mapper and surveyor. He was 2IC of the 1961 Arctic Operation and lead the 1962 Arctic operation. During this ASE tour he was also assigned to the UNTSO Palestine operation in 1962/1963 to survey and mark the Syria-Israel border - respectfully regarded as the "Reichert Line" by his surveyor colleagues.
Joe attended Queen’s University to complete an MBA and became a Professor at the Royal Military College, then moved to British Columbia to teach at Simon Fraser University. He finally migrated to Calgary, AB in 1968 and worked as a Senior Programmer for many years with Petro-Canada. In later years he was a businessman experiencing a number of avenues and finished with a sixteen year journey in the dry cleaning business retiring at 75.
At Joe’s request there will be no funeral, however he encourages all to visit him at the Sacred Heart Columbarium, located at 1307 - 14 Street SW Calgary, AB. In lieu of flowers, please direct your generosity to a charity of your choosing. In living memory of Joe Reichert, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
We regret to advise that Donald Rodney (Rod) Sheets of Logan Lake, B.C. passed away peacefully at Kamloops on 1 April at the age of 73 years. Rod was born in Cornwall, ON. He joined the Army as a young man with the Sapper Apprentice 4th Intake in June 1955. He was with the Royal Canadian Engineers for only five years but in that short time completed a 6-month tour with the United Nations Emergency Force in the Middle East as well as deploying to Nevada, USA, and Australia. After retirement in September 1960 he maintained his lifelong Sapper friendships by regularly attending the Retired Sapper Reunions.
After retirement he studied to be a United Church Minister and moved all over the country before settling in Merritt, BC, as a Social Worker. After that career he started working at Highland Valley Copper. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, 10 April 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Logan Lake Christian Fellowship Church..
We regret to advise that Arthur Robert Walker of Abbotsford, BC passed away peacefully on 16 February 2012 at the age of 80. Born in Rossland, BC, Art joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1948 and his military career took him to many points in Canada and Germany as well as to Korea and Egypt with the United Nations. His last posting was to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in 1969 as an Instructor in Trades Training until he retired in 1974. After retirement he immediately launched into a new career as a heavy equipment operator with the District of Matsqui until retirement in 1994.
A celebration of his life with a gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, 25 February. In lieu of flowers donations to the BC Children’s Hospital or a charitable organization close to your heart would be appreciated.
We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer David Thomas Wooley, CD, (Retd) on 30 April 2012 in the Chilliwack General Hospital. Born and raised in Edmonton, David joined the CF in 1969 as an Electrical Generating Systems Technician. He served in a number of postings including: CFS Penhold (70-71), CFS Dana (71-74), CFS Alsask (75-78), CFB Chatham (78-79), CFS St Margarets (79-81), CFB Baden-Soellingen (81-85), CFB Shearwater (85-88), CFS Sydney (89-90), and CFB Chilliwack (90-92), retiring as a Master Warrant Officer Mechanical Systems Technician in the Utilities Officer position at CFB Chilliwack.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service is scheduled for 1230 hrs 20 May at Vedder Golden Branch 280, Royal Canadian Legion.
