John Brownell

    We regret to advise of the death of John Brownell at the Moncton, NB Hospital on 24 October 2008 at the age of 91 years.

    John was born in Baie Verte, NB. After his schooling, he was employed by Canadian Canners Ltd., Middleton, NS until joining the Army in 1940. He was a veteran of the Second World War who served with the Royal Canadian Engineers. After demobilization, John joined the Canadian National Railways (CNR) Sales and Service Department and worked in various locations including Halifax NS, Campbellton NB, and Sydney NS. By the time he retired he was manager of Freight Sales and Services for the Moncton Area. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 in Moncton. He was an original member of the Mount Royal United Church in Moncton, a member of the first Board of Stewards and at the official opening of the present church was a Church Elder. John was a member of the CNR Supervisors Association and the CNR Pensioners Association.

    A memorial service will take place in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton on 29 October at 3:00 PM. Donations may be made to the Mount Royal United Church Memorial Fund. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. {gdMar2017dc} [zsd, zpp]
