CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING PROJECT COMPETITION
The Tunnellers' Cup was presented for annual competition
by the Toronto Branch of the Military Engineers' Association
of Canada in memory of the outstanding service rendered to
Canada by the officers and men of the Canadian Tunnelling
Companies RCE, 1939-1945.
It was first awarded in 1990 to the Construction Engineering
section or unit with the best project in construction
engineering. The aim of the competition is to develop
construction engineering military occupational skills
and to promote esprit de corps among CME members of the
Regular and Reserve forces.
The winners of this competition have been:
- 1991 - CFB Halifax
- 1992 - CFB Winnipeg
- 1993 - CFB Gagetown
- 1997 - CFB Moose Jaw
J3 Engineers sponsors this competition. Like the Patton-Cunnington
Airfield Engineering Competition this competition is fairly
broad in terms of the nature of project that may be entered.
This opens the door for potential Bridges for Canada projects,
but units must remember to clear such proposed projects
through Command/Area headquarters.
